MEN SPRING-SUMMER 2011 TRENDS PT.1
After taking a look at the colour trends it is time to write about forms, styles and details in men fashion for this spring-summer 2011 season.
1. wide trousers
For few years most designers were favouring slimmer and slimmer trousers. It applied to casual and more formal trousers. Slim trend expanded beyond the trousers and I think that it will continue but from time to time we will see some anti-slim variations. Example of such variation can be seen in men trousers for this season. Many designers in spring-summer collections have proposed extra wide trousers mixed with slim tops.
2. high trousers
Another interesting variation in this season are high trousers. I have mentioned the slimming trend. Often it was followed with lowering the trousers to the hips. Hipsters became some sort of standard in casual fashion – especially in jeans but not only. We can also see more and more suits with super slim form and hipster trousers.
Many designers have proposed higher more traditional trousers for this season. Will this became a new trend? Personally I think that it has bigger chance than wide trousers.
3. beige chinos
Beige is one of the top colours for this season seen in many collections. I have a feeling that beige cotton chinos will become a hit. I was able to spot them in several collections during fashion weeks and it seems that many large mass brands have picked up and included such trousers in their chain stores (H&M, Reserved, Zara, Cottonfield, Massimo Dutti…). I think that beige chinos have a chance to replace blue jeans as men casual trousers No 1.
4. Double-breasted tops
Double-breasted tops (jackets, coats) were very important in autumn-winter 2011 and we can see a follow up of this trend. On fashion weeks it was easy to spot double-breasted jackets, sweaters and coats.
Soon I will publish second part of this article in which I will write few words about shorts.
