Bespoken Made-to-Measure Thomas Mason Shirting


With the re-launch of Bespoken's website (http://www.bespokenclothiers.com) that now includes e-commerce, the Made-to-Measure category of Bespoken's collection made from Thomas Mason shirting fabric is available exclusively on the site. The design collective behind Bespoken, Paulo Goncalves, CarlosGoncalves, Liam Fayed, James Fayed, and Sam Fayed visited theAlbini/Thomas Mason factory in Italy to research the vast archives ofhand-drawn patterns, some dating back as far as 1885. 
 
The designersworked closely with the mill to develop and resurrect patterns thatwould be woven exclusively forBespoken and for Holiday 2011. Fabrics sourced in the archives such as the heritage plaid inthe attached image have been reworked with a contemporary cut. Customers can put in their measurements, chose their collar and cuff preference, and browse the selection of Thomas Mason shirting to producea shirt that is uniquely their own.

Swedish watch brand Triwa, well known for their pop coloured acetate straps have stepped things up this season with even more beautifully crafted leather straps. For the second season they are working with the Swedish Tärnsjö Tannery that has been creating leather since the 1800s, it's tradition of beautiful craftsmanship works in synergy with Triwa's superb quality timepieces, all Triwa watches are made from hand cut acetate, stainless steel and mineral glass. 
 Last season saw the Nevil introduced into the Triwa's repertoire , the first with a  classic leather Nato strap, inspired by the British Army model. This collection sees the Brasco style given the leather treatment, super soft suede is contrasted with slick metallics and rich colour.

Shipley & Halmos Releases Photographer Aaron Stern's Book "Everyone Must Be Announced"


This winter, designers Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos of Shipley & Halmos  are releasing the photo essay book, "Everyone Must Be Announced" by photographer Aaron Stern. Published under Shipley & Halmos'publishing division, S&H Publishers, the book captures the experience of watching live music, being in the crowd and connecting with your fellow concert revelers and the band.  Shifting the focus away from the artist, the candid images document the expressions in the crowds, the architecture of venues, the marriage of light and sound - and how they all interact for the ultimateconcert experience. Aaron Stern shot these images at shows of bands including Sonic Youth, Sleigh Bells, Grizzly Bear, Arcade Fire, The Strokes, Animal Collective, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Phoenix, The Kills, and Beach House.

HURLEY TO DEBUT "FIN," A SHORT FILM AND CORRESPONDING T-SHIRT COLLECTION BY ICONIC WRITER, PRODUCER AND ARTIST C.R. STECYK III



Hurley has announced that they will partner with iconic artist C.R. Stecyk III to debut his new short film FIN on February 8th at Hurley's H Space Gallery in Costa Mesa, CA. Taking inspiration from the film, Hurley is also creating a limited-edition printables collection featuring art and photography captured during the film's creation.
"Stecyk is both a celebrated chronicler of the art, surf and skate cultures as well as a longtime friend to the Hurley brand.  When he told us of his plans for the film, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to work together to bring his vision to life," states Jason Maloney, Hurley's Director of Art.
FIN, the first installment in an evolutionary series of digital film shorts, details Stecyk's method of working with a wide variety of personages in the southern California region and reflects the social and sonic landscapes in which these creators inhabit. People whose work has been documented so far include Von Dutch, Ed "Big Daddy" Roth,  Evel Knievel, Dave Sweet, Julian Ness, Tom Blake, Dale Velzy, Tyler Hatzikian, Scott Anderson, Mitch Abshere, Scotty Stopnick, Mike Ness, and Roland Sands.  The featured soundtrack is also a nod to West Coast visionaries, with Social Distortion, Breakdown, Tommy Guerrero and Steve Alba and the Powerflex 5 contributing to the project.

"FIN investigates artisan garage culture.  It will offer insights into an assortment of individuals who incorporate traditional do-it-yourself garage methodology into differing pursuits such as traditional modified vehicles, surfboards, skateboards, art, music and communications," states Stecyk.
The subsequent printables collection will feature a series of 4 t-shirts showcasing exclusive artwork and still photography captured during the making of FIN.  The printables collection will be available for purchase on Hurley.com in conjunction with the film's Costa Mesa debut on February 8th.  The film will then travel to Hurley's additional H Space galleries in Bali and Tokyo for international premieres.

ABOUT C.R. "CRAIG" STECYK III
C.R. Stecyk III is an artist/curator who has participated in over three hundred international art exhibitions. As a longtime chronicler of the California scene he has written for a variety of publications and authored a number of books, and catalogues dealing with contemporary culture. Stecyk was also the production designer and co-writer of the documentary film Dogtown and Z Boys which won major awards at Sundance and other festivals.
