Why fashion isn't important when you're working out

1:You’re getting ready to go to the gym.  Do you think about the routine you’re going to use and how you will be most effective today, or do you worry about how your outfit is going to look?  If you fall in the second group you are concentrating too hard on fashion and not enough on function.  The following tips will help you get what you need to succeed.

Comfort

The first concern should really be about the comfort of the clothing that you will be wearing, weather you are running, lifting weights, or mountain climbing.  Although the apparel will differ depending on the sort of exercise being performed, you should always be comfortable with what you are wearing.  The best materials are those that breathe well and wick away moisture.  If you are able to stay cool and dry while working out you will be much more successful in your pursuit.

Durability

Next, ensure that what you are buying is durable.  The dollar store shorts may be a bargain now, but when they tear in a month and have to be replaced the cost goes up.  Some companies are known for making more durable gear and this will save you in the long run.  Under Armor is a good brand who makes a variety of athletic apparel, and there are other reputable manufacturers.  It pays to talk to others who do the activities you like and learn from their experience.  This saves you money and keeps you from being the guinea pig.

Price

Finally, consider price.  Price should come last because it is important to have comfortable gear that is going to last.  However, there will be a large price range of comfortable, durable clothing.  For instance, Under Armor is expensive and might not be the best choice for you.  Consider how often you are going to be active.  Someone who runs 5 times a week can probably justify spending a bit more on running shoes than someone who only runs once a month.

If you focus on these factors when purchasing exercise clothing then you will get the proper gear for the activities you plan to engage in.  With all the right stuff your workouts will flow more smoothly and you will build the body you want.  Then you can wear the fashionable clothes where it matters the most.

All that should really matter when it comes to clothes that are used for working out is comfort, since what is the point of putting a great deal of effort into your appearance when within a few minutes you will be as red as a beetroot, with strands of hair sticking to your face, and your clothes clinging to you as you start to sweat? It would appear that some people care more about wearing fashionable clothing than its practical use, but what is the point of wearing expensive clothes that are simply not designed for exercise, when they are only going to get sweaty and start to smell?



Sometimes it is worthwhile spending a little bit of money on clothing that you use for exercise, but it depends on the activity you are participating in, how often you do it and whether or not you are engaged in competition. If you enjoy cycling occasionally you might want to think about buying a pair of cycling shorts, because obviously it is much more comfortable to have padding in the appropriate places if you're sitting down for long periods of time. If you cycle a lot, though, you might also want to consider investing in tights, shoes, jerseys and jackets, and if you want good quality products you might want to spend more than if you were buying items that rarely get used. This has nothing to do with fashion, and everything to do with practicality.



Similarly, if you enjoy running you don't really need any specialist gear, apart from a good pair of running trainers, but if you intend to run at a competitive level and find yourself training in all kinds of weather it might be worth buying some other clothing. This could involve buying a jersey and some trousers that are specifically designed to remove sweat away from your body, but obviously it depends how serious you are about running.



There are plenty of other physical activities which individuals can participate in that might require specialist gear, but when people choose what to wear they are not usually thinking about fashion, but rather about whether the clothing fulfils their requirements. On the other hand, there are also lots of activities that don't require any specialised clothing, and people are free to slip on some sweat pants and a t-shirt, which many opt to do. There are only a few people who seem to think that working out is a good time to wear the latest fashions, as they want to get themselves noticed and seem to have forgotten what the actual point of doing exercise is.
