Austin Reed was renowned for its clever advertising developed by artists like Tom Purvis and Fougasse for his cartoons. "It's just part of the Austin Reed service," had become a national catch phrase.
1940s
The 1940s were marked by the Second World War where Austin Reed manufactured uniforms for both male and female soldiers. The company's most famous customer was Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
1950’s – Present Day
By the time the business was celebrating its golden jubilee, Austin Reed had retired as chairman but was still very much involved. The focus was to completely modernise the business and this eventually led to the expansion of women's range in the 1980s. This Autumn Austin Reed will be celebrating its 110th Anniversary with a limited edition collection.
