Men's fashion has certainly turned geek chic which has led to a lot of geek pride being openly displayed as closet geeks are now free to identify with their geekdom. Geek! which used to be an insultive term is now the new cool thanks to uber geeks like Bill Gates, worlds richest man. The world has moved from an industrial age to an information age. Real wealth is no longer in Material stuff but what a person has in his brains. It helps that information is the currency of geekdom and all geek pursuits.
Geeks are associated with being business savvy and having high intelligence,education and purchasing power. The geeky image- horn rimmed glasses, bowties, rumpled shirts...... is now Natty :o)
Several people want to appear smarter and if you notice how men dress for job interviews these days or success at the workplace it's all geekcentric! People don't really mind whether you're smart or not at first as long as you look it. And it sure gives you a headstart until they uncover your incompetence, if you're incompetent :o)
If i'm at a cafe and i run into difficulties with my laptop i'd ask the guy wearing the digital watch with a
Briefcase for help before i ask the Rolex laden guy. This bares the fact that image is key and you're you best image consultant. Add some geekcentric elements to your wardrobe and get ahead.
